Epcam - Patching Kernel

OK... got to ask it....I am trying to get a Creative Webcam PD1001 to work....I get this to work... I drop WinXP from mainstream use!! So you can see I am keen to get sorted!!

How do I patch the kernel with the Epcam driver - I haven't a clue!! The Epcam driver I find has a .DIFF extension... is this correct??

I am running Ubuntu Dapper Beta.

Many many thanks if you can help me sort this.
