Emulate USB drive

Hi,

I have a device that can read and write to a USB drive (pendrive, hdd, etc). Can I "simulate" the USB drive with a PC? I'd like to make my PC sort of like "USB proxy" between that device and the HDD that is installed in my pc.

If this is not clear : I'd like to connect that device to my pc rather than external usb hdd or pendrive, and make the pc "forwarding" the data to the internal HDD.

Best,
Chris

Ok, I've found the thing called USB Gadget API that provides kernel modules that can make a Linux box a USB Client device. I guess a regular USB port will not be able to handle that. Anyone has any experience with those? I just need to turn a Linux box into mass storage USB device.

Quite a lot of people have read this thread, and not replied.
Maybe they are thinking, "why do you want to do this?". I am
There's probably an easier solution to your problem if you told us what real the problem is.

It is mistake to make assumptions. Try "a regular USB port", and see what happens. Maybe it'll "just work" :)
