Eliminate touchpad

Hello there again
I have a laptop compaq with a synaptics touchpad mouse, I have tried in many ways to eliminate the double touch click option, but I have not been able to. Since I have a nice small usb mouse which works great. Is there a way to disable completely the touchopad, what part of the xorg.conf file should I comment. I am running gentoo.
Thanks!!!!

can you post the inputdevice sections from the file? or, i think you could just comment out the ones you dont need. if you just comment them out i think you have to change another part of the file but i dont remember which one.
might as well post the whole file

Set MaxTapTime to zero to disable tapping. To disable touchpad simply comment out the whole section.
