Unhappy edid problem

My monitor seems to be generating an invalid edid, this overrides the settings in xfree86, is there any way of stopping this problem. I'm pretty sure that the problem is with my monitor but apart form the edid it works fine and I don't wan't to replace it. I have been useing the nvidia drivers for my graphics card for 6 months without problem and all of a sudden it stopped working. I have uninstalled the nvidia graphics drivers and it seem to work acceptably but I think that the default driver "nv" doesn't look at the edid which is why it is working.

I'm useing an mx440 graphics card with a sony cpd e200 monitor, can anyone sugest a fox for my faulty edid data? (it gives a refresh rate about 3 time higher than recomended in my manual (approx 150-240hz )

Tried "Option "IgnoreEDID"" in your nvidia driver device section?

Smile edid fixed

yes option "IgnoreEDID" "true" works, the other problem is that now I have to supply a valid modeline, but I have one that works ok and have just downloaded videogen to get an optimised modeline

thanks for the help
