hey! i just got a new logitech keyboard with all those extra itouch keys. works fine with linux (runnin slack 9.1), but i can't seem to get the extra keys to work.

i did some searchin and all i found were hard solutions that required recompiles of X....so anyone out there got any easier solutions?

Now, I've seen one.

ACME 2.4.1

Newbies may not be able to find these things (see google link in sig), so post links too.

it doesn't seem to work for me.

right now i have X set up to recognize my keyboard as a standard 104 key keyboard.

i can't get the acme program to set my extra keys. however, i know it is getting input because whenever i press one of the extra keys my mouse cursor will hop like 10 pixels to the right.

I have a Logitech keyboard as well. I run GNOME 2 with Sawfish as my windows
manager. Under the Desktop Preferences -> Advanced -> Sawfish -> Keybindings
you can setup all kinds of handy keyboard shortcuts. There is a handy key grab
feature so you don't have to know scan codes. In this case, Acme conflicts with
Sawfish for keys, so don't use Acme.

You also have to configure X-windows with the itouch keyboard. Not all my keys
function as I have it configured. Some day I will get around to digging into why.

Also if you want to use the multi-media keys with XMMS, there is an itouch plug-in
for XMMS. A search for itouch on www.freshmeat.net
will find it. Again, keys bound to XMMS will conflict with Sawfish and most likely Acme.

but how i can make acme startup automatically. i tried to add i to /etc/rc.local file. but i doesn't work. Says can't open display 0:0. Of course, my redhatlinux haven't start X yet.
SO, how can i do that. just like the way the up2date icon does.

ok this might sound stupid...i'm using 2 keyboards at the same time...

one is a standard ps/2 keybaord, and my other is the logitech cordless usb...do you guys think having 2 keybaords will prevent all the keyboard configuration programs from working?

(for the curious, for my birthday all my friends got me keyboards...3 pitched in for a cordless, and 4 pitched for a rubber foldable one...little did they know they all got me the same presents....why? because my old keyboard was used so much they didn't have letters anymore)
