Exclamation DWL-122 interface not found Slack 10 default kernel

Hey,
I have a d-link USB 802.11b adapter (DWL-122). I have installed the correct drivers (wlan-linux-ng) and the kernel module loads, but I keep getting interface not found errors. The OS registers that the device is plugged in (it is marked as an unknown device, but has to be it since the other usb devices are accounted for) but the driver wont bring up the wlan0 interface. Is there a way to force the driver to use the device, or is that not the problem? Thanks.
