Running on Debian Stable/Testing mix. Using any burning software I can write a single layer DVD, yay! Try a dual layer and will only ever work or attempt to work as Root or Sudo.
Any ideas?
I've tried command line with GrowISOfs, K3B and NeroLinux, all give me the same issue with dual layer.
Is the user in the cdrom group? Or burner? or whatever applies from /etc/group. Bear in mind that you'll have to re-login to have any changes take effect.
ls -l /dev/dvdrw
(or what ever device is in question sr0 / scd0 / cdrom / hdc / .....)
(looking at the group associated with it and general permissions)
(might also check /etc/udev/rules...... type stuff on the device in question)
