dvd and dvd writer on Slackware

Do this:
rm /dev/cdrom
ln /dev/hd? /dev/cdrom
make sure that /etc/fstab has entries for both devices.

You might have to do other things to make the dvd writer do packet writing cause thats supported now.

changing the fstab is usually the only thing I have to do to make the computer do what I want in that area. There are some advantages to linking the actual device to /dev/cdrom, mostly in human readability of devices.

I am not sure whether it is in udev or not. It seems possible. There is always the brute force method, doing something in /etc/rc.d/rc.local.
