DV-video capture with kino problem

I have a dual boot system mandriva 2005, win xp. I try to capture video from a digital camcorder JVC GR-DX77 but fail. I can controll the camera from kino (play, pause rewind...) but when I press capture kino just waits for the signal and aborts after 10 sec.
Capture works flawless in WinXP with WinDV (nice prog).
dvgrab reports that no camera is connected and abort,

I believe it should be at least readable for all, I have permissions 0666 for /dev/raw1394, kino records fine.

I've tried changing permissions but that doesn't help, neither does it help to run kino as root.

kino crashes unexpectedly in fedora core 4 when starting capture

when i run kino as root from the console (or even starting it from the applications menu as a normal user) it crashes when i press the capture button. i have looked everywhere and haven't found a solution. i can grab the video with dvgrab fine, without problems. would be nice to use just one application though. when i open an avi file in kino that i created with dvgrab, kino crashes just the same. pretty annoying.

anothing annoying thing is fedora core 4's placement og raw1394. it is placed here:
/dev/raw/raw1394

so dvgrab and kino don't see it and i have to make a symbolic link to /dev/raw1394 every time i restart the computer:
Code:
ln -s /dev/raw/raw1394 /dev/raw1394
how do i make this link permanent or make fedora core put it in the right place permanently?
