Duplicate VG name VolGroup00: Existing [long UUID] (created here) takes precedence
 

I am sure that someone has encountered this before, but I searched and could not find the solution, so here I am posting to see if anyone has a solution for me.

My server kept shutting down indicating that the cpu was overheating. After not being able to get the heat sink off and replace the it or any other component, I was forced to get a new cpu, motherboard and memory.

I placed the motherboard, memory and cpu in the old chassis, set up the bios and tried to boot my CentOS and it comes up with:

No volume groups found
Volume group "VolGroup00" not found
mount: could not find filesystem '/dev/root'

switchroot: mount failed: No such file or directory
Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init!

If I put the dvd in and go into linux rescue, I can see the drives and access them just fine. I see the /etc/lvm directory and everything.

I execute chroot /mnt/sysimage and type lvm.

The pvscan says:

I can see the partitions and I can see everything that I should see, but the lvm seems to be out of sync.

Can anyone tell me how I should go about fixing this issue?

Good question, I have never seen it and wouldn't know where to start without nuking the LVs and starting it over. I'll ask one of the guys here who is our storage/LVM expert and see if he can give me any input, I'll post a follow up when I bounce this off him.
