Dual processor P4 Motherboard
 

Anyone know if there are dual processor P4 motherboards out there that are not Xeon's? I'd like to build a dual proc fedora machine with some 3 GHz processors, but do they even make dual proc motherboards? Thanks for the heads up.

i dunno about P4 but i saw this one for amd procs. a long ago and that thing was expensive as hell. and dual proc motherboards are only made for servers as far as i know. u wont need em for home use

Usually motherboards that come with dual desktop socket like 370, 478, 754, and 939 will first come from Abit. Abit made the first motherboard that has dual 370 sockets. They stop making dual processor desktop motherboards after they made a dual 370 socket motherboard because the need was not high enough to continue for other sockets. Then other manufactures follow.

Dual Opterons are better than two Xeons at a much lower price. AMD is thinking to make a dual-core desktop processor for 939 socket motherboards. I can not predict when AMD will introduce dual core processors for the 939 socket because it is too early to tell.

That is true that dual processors motherboards are for servers, but these days home users runs multiple programs at once. During the day I run Mozilla Firefox, Folding@home, tvtime, mplayer, VLC, OpenOffice, X Window Server, ssh, samba, and mplayer's mencoder.

Nope. After the Celeron A and Pentium III, Intel intentionally disabled SMP capability in consumer-targeted CPUs. If you want to run multiple processors go with either the Intel Xeon, AMD Athlon MP (or hack an XP), or Opteron.
