Dual PIII 866 Fedora Core 3 problem
Hey guys. I have a Dual PIII 866MHz rig I just built. I just put Fedora Core 3 on it and when booting into the SMP kernel my network cards don't respond. But if I boot into the non SMP kernel all 3 network cards I have in there work fine. So I recompiled to the 2.6.10 kernel and turned on some kernel IRQ balancing stuff and that didn't help either. So it seems when I'm in any SMP kernel my nics just stop responding. The OS see's them and can turn them up. It just seems the NIC's wont send or receive data.
The hardware I'm using:
iWill DVD-266r mobo
2 PIII 866MHz
2 x 256 PC2100 DDR
2 x Western Digital HDD's, 80GB 7200rpm
2 x DLink off the shelf NIC's. DFE-530TX+
1 x Intel 10/100 NIC ( don't know model number)
Some of the things I've tried:
Both Fedora Core 3 and Clarkconnect 3.0 Distro's used.
Recompiling to 2.6.10 ( maybe I'm missing something I need to turn on to fix this)
Swaping out different brand NIC's Dlink, Intel, 3Comm
Anyone else know of some issues with SMP machines and NIC problems? Any help would be great!!!
Thanks,
Rob
