Dual Monitors

I have an MSI FX2500 video card, with two outputs. It should be able to run two monitors. If I plug both in, it will show the startup sequence on both, but when it gets to starting X it hangs. I can get SaX2 (I'm running SuSE 8.2) to see both monitors and setup multiheading, but when I go to start X with that configuration, it tells me there's a problem loading modules. Presumably this is because I have to set up with each head on the card as a separate graphics card and it's trying to load the same driver for both (I tried using nvidia on one and nv on the other to no avail).

So, does anyone have a similar setup to this running? Anyone have suggestions on how I might get it running? If you need more information about my system just let me know.

TIA

OK, so someone on another board suggested using TwinView instead of setting it up as multihead. So I edit my XF86Config file the way you're supposed to to get TwinView working, and X will start, but I only get an image on the main monitor. Any suggestions?

Edit: I also tried multiheading again, it gives me an "entity already in use" error now and then fails.

show your XF86Config file here and any relevant errors in XFree86.0.log i'm running a dual display on an FX5200 with no problems at all. i don't use the twinview extensions thouhg, just directly through a normal dual server layout. check the Xinerama howto for more info

OK, when I had it setup as a multihead, it was like this, and when I started X it gave me an error "requested entity already in use" and died. I don't have the log file, but "Fatal Error: Requested Entity Already In Use" was the last line. As I stated above, I also tried using both the nv driver and the nvidia driver in various combinations and got the same error either way.

Could you post your XF86Config? That would probably help me.

What version of X are you running? I'm on 4.3.0. Probably more importantly, what version of the nvidia drivers do you have?
