Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

Hello all. I've been using Linux a few weeks now and I really love it. I started w/Mandrake and now I'm trying out SuSE. I'd like to install my second monitor now. I have an ATI Radeon dual monitor video card. There's a lot of info on this site and elsewhere so I think I know how to edit my X86config file. However there's a warning message at the start of the file:
# Automatically generated by [ISaX] (4.7)
# PLEASE DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE!
So I tried to setup it up thru SAX2 but it says I can't do it on my system.
So I need to edit my X86config file, right? I've included the video sections of my file at the end of this post. As I understand it, this is what I need to do:
1) Add a second Monitor section w/that monitor's specs and identify it
as "Monitor(1)". Also for Monitor(1) add a Modes(1) section and a
2) Add a second Device section identical to the first except identify
it as Device(1).
3) Modifiy my ServerLayout section. This is the one I'm not sure how to edit exactly, except I know I need to turn Xinerama "on". Any help w/this section would be appreciated.
This is a great site and I'm really excited about Linux. Thanks for any input.
