Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Dual head n00b questions

Hello, I am considering upgrading to a dual-head system, but I understand that this can be problematic. I have a bunch of somewhat newbie questions that I couldn't find answers to through googling, etc...

1) Radeon 9250 cards: Do these have open-source 3D acceleration? I read somewhere that these are the most powerful ATI cards that have fully open specs and drivers.
2) Can I dual head with two of the above cards, one PCI and one AGP?
3) Can one X server use both cards (xinerama?) so that they together create one large desktop?
4) Will 3 still work with the two cards running at different resolutions?
5) Can I still have 3D acceleration on one or both of the monitors while running dual head?

TIA

1)I'm not sure but I think they are like nvidia. There is no open-source 3D acceleration driver. ATI provides 3D acceleration drivers for linux, but they are closed source. Does this matter at all?

Not per se, I just like being open-source. I'm currently using NVidia binary drivers.

Cheers!
