dual core processor and normal kernel ??
I want to install Linux on an AMD athlon 4200 dual core processor with the following hardware configuration :
ASUS M2N - MX motherboard which has :-
Socket AM2 for AMD Athlon 64 /FX CPU
- Nvidia GeForce 6100/nForce 430
- 2000 / 1600 HyperTransport
- PCI Express X16
- SATA RAID 0,1,5,0+1
- MAX 4 SATA (3Gb/s) support Dual RAID
- Gb LAN
- Compliant with RoHS
I wanted to know whether the SMP kernel is compulsory for using this hardware congiguration or can i run the 64 bit kernel for Fedora Core 6 and Dapper Drake smoothly enough. I do not know much about linux so am worried about later softwares not being compatible and so on and so forth.
So do i have to use the SMP kernel ?
