Talking Dual Boot with win xp pro and mandrake 9.1


will i have any probs with win xp pro if i were to install mandrake on to my NTFS partition by using the part software that comes with linux? or will my NTFS go corrupt?

and one other question if i were to buy a cheap cendyne external serial modem and plug it in would it work straight out of the box?
