It's not the make that matters it's the chipset. Try to find out the chipset of a dongle you're considering and search for Linux support for it -- that's the easiest way. I bought a cheap one made by plugable and it seems to work fine.

So the chipset will be on a label of a dongle and I can check it in Mint's documentation page?

SAdly it's not usually that simple. What I did was buy a dongle which was labelled as Linux friendly on Amazon. It's a matter of trying to ascertain which chipset a dongle uses then googling whether that chipset is supported.

Tomorrow I can get a CSR bluetooth now owned by Qualcomm. Or a no name brand.

See whether you can find the chipset used in either then search for Linux support. There are many dongles which support Linux and chance are you may even be able to use either but the only definitive way to find out is to know the chipset used. I have also found the Amazon comments can be helpful. The one I bought was only about £12 and was explicitly labelled as "Linux compatible".
