drivers for hl-dt-st cd-rw & toshiba dvd-rw needed

i'm running redhat 9. neither acts as if it recognizes a cd in the the particular drives. both devices are set at "noauto" on mounting. if that is all i need to change i could use the help in how to, otherwise i think it's a driver issue with both.

also(maybe of not), the default gnome-cd player seg faults when launching the program.

thanks in advance for any suggestion/help, and if i need to include some more information will happily do!

what kind of CD are you using (audio or data)? have you tried another cd player?

have you tried mounting it - if its listed in fstab, you should be able to just type "mount" followed by the mount dir. you may need to be root, depending on which options are set.

check the mount man page ("man mount") for more details on mount options.
