Question drivers for ati radeon mobility -d for vector linux?????

hello there, i'm new to this linux stuff but i'm having a problem with my display......it's set to 78mhz and it needs to be 60..i used the settings editor and changed it and it stuck in there, but when i go to change it in the display settings it's still showing 78..the display comes up fine on the laptop with 78 but when i plug in the s-video cable to view on my television the wallpaper colors are all messed up and i don't get anything other than the boot stuff that comes up when you first boot on the television. can someone tell me what i have to do to fix this...the display worked fine with kubuntu and ubuntu but i found those distros too slow as i have an old sony vaio laptop.

What version of that distro are you using?

The exact model of mobility raedon would help a lot as well. You can find that out various ways, lscpi is easy.

You just open a terminal and enter 'lspci' then post the results here. In 'code' tags is best, it makes the forum neater. you can find the 'code' tags by going to the control area about the posting area, its the '#' symbol.

Here is what it should look like-
