Drivers for Adaptec SATA RAID Controller 1210SA
Hello,
Can i use the RH9 drivers from adaptec to install my raid-controller on a new Fedora Setup? If such drivers are distro-specific, is there any place i can search for drivers adapted to other distro's? I'm quite new to linux and raid-controllers so i really need some help here :) Thx a lot |
Adaptec 1210SA
The Adaptec 1210SA is a Host-RAID based controller.
(the host cpu does XOR calculations for RAID) There are downloads driver disk images for Redhat 7.3 - 9.0 and Suse 8.0 - 8.1. There are no Adaptec source drivers to download for this card. You may want to try Silicon Images drivers for the 3112 chip set on this card. The Adaptec 2410SA and up are full hardware RAID controllers with the driver source available. |
Silicon Image!!
I found the drivers for Silicon Image but is the same for adaptec that I cacth on the site!!!
for red hat 7.3 - 9.0 suse 8.0 - 8.2!! I need the driver for SATA adaptec 1210SA with the chipset from silicon image for my ""suse 9.0""!! I try to use the driver for suse 8.2 on my suse 9.0 changing the module "driver.o" when I create the diskette like the manual from suse that I read... but I see the message " This driver is for suse 8.2..." Then I continue to load the module and "kernel panic"!!!! Please I apreciate any help! Att |
use fedora core 3
Hi all...
here is what i know now: Yes, the 1210SA is a Software RAID controller. The card itself does not contain any ECCRAM or Hardware RAID LOGIC (XOR). The card is supported on most new distros, but some IDE-software modules are bugged. ("Lost Interrupt" and or hangs) The Card seems to work with Fedora Core 3. The Striped array is detected as 2 HDDs on my system, not as one big good RAID array. (1210SA just a SATA io Card ???) It looks that i have to set up a software RAID to get my Hardware RAID working. :/ The 2410SA has REAL HARDWARE RAID and 64 MB of fixed ECC SDRAM. Much more hardware, exactly 300$ more. This is what you need for massive performance servers. (+ 4 HDDs) But im still happy, in my home-server the processor is not used for many other tasks. (file server only) A MotherBoard with 66Mhz PCI would make me more happy. Im unhappy about Adaptec's bisness strategy. the 1210SA should be called a Software-RAID card, or a S-ATA IO Card, or maybe a fake-RAID card. The difference is not really documented. ... thats all folks |
Same problem, on a HP ML110.
I'm trying to install SLES9, but nothing works: unable to find the discs if the controller is enable, unable to upload the drivers from HP site, because there are only for 32bit systems, and this server is 64bit. Ok, it is just a sw-RAID card, but I'll be really happier if the supposed support for Linux really works. No good, from HP! I'll try to create sw RAID. Ly* |
Did anyone solve the problem ?
