i am very new to this, i just completely deleted my windows xp from my computer and i just installed Ubuntu 8.0.4. I was browsing around and i found that i do not have anything that is in my hardware drivers and i am wondering why?

How am i able to allow my computer to recognize my drivers?

Lastly i also get this message that stats couldnt find package why not and how do i get that package when i tried to install compizconfig-settings-manager in the terminal of ubuntu 8.0.4

What do you mean by in my hardware drivers? What hardware do you need configured and what do you mean by "recognize my drivers?"
What drivers are you talking about. In Linux, to access a device such as a usb drive, certain kernel modules need to be loaded. This was probably taken care of during boot.

It would be easier to read your post if you capitalized the word "I" and didn't jam to sentences together. I don't have Ubuntu but on my system that program is supplied by a package of the same name "compizconfig-settings-manager".

Stat is a program displays information about a file. It sounds like the package doesn't exist where you are trying to install it from.
