Question Does the Ricoh WG 20 digital camera work on the Linux system?

Will a Ricoh WG 20 digital camera work on the Linux system. The camera specification lists only Windows and Mac systems?

and cameras are seen as usb devices accessible but the default photo software and the desktop

now
the Proprietary closed source Microsoft only software that comes with the camera ?????

I can't speak about that particular camera, but it is not unusual for specifications to list only Windows and Mac. I've purchased USB hard drivers, enclosures for spinning drives, even HDMI adapters and cables, and other items which worked just fine with Linux, even though the marketing literature mentioned only Windows and Mac.

Most big manufacturers, just like most consumers, don't even think about Linux, so seeing no mention of Linux in the specs means nothing.

My experience agrees with John VV about the camera's memory card; you should be able to stick it in a card reader and go. Depending on the type of USB connection the camera has, mounting the camera itself as a mass storage device may not be as transparent as it ought to be.

fwiw, i have an old canon camera and it doesn't just show up as a usb device.
but with gvfs and some select optional dependencies, it works.

really we would need a little more info on the camera.

if you have it already, just try.
