Does SonyEricsson W800i sync with kmobiletools or other software

Hello,

I plan to buy a new cell phone. Since my old one (a Nokia) didn't allow to sync with my addressbook and calendar, I would like to know some models that are compatible with e.g. kmobiletools (the list on their website isn't up-to-date, so that doesn't help). I am specifically interested in the W800i by SonyEricsson and the Motorola A780. Has anybody had experience with these models?

Hi Loony,

I have managed to synchronise my Sony Ericsson W800i with kmobiletools.

At first I kept getting the error message 'An error occurred while initializing mobile phone device. - Check your configuration and try again.'

No matter which mobile phone device I had selected I still got the same error message. So I went into YAST -> selected HARDWARE and then HARDWARE INFORMATION (Please note that I am using SuSe 9.1)

When the list had appeared I expanded the MODEM menu. Yeah baby, Sony Ericsson W800 is listed. Expand the list and find the device name; my device name is /dev/ttyACM0 - remember the device name; write it down or something. Stay In YAST, you may still need to be here.

IMPORTANT : try to locate the device! In my case it wasn't there. Hence I was getting the error messege above. If it is there you can get out of YAST.

My device wasn't listed so I needed to still be in YAST. I then went to INSTALL & REMOVE SOFTWARE. Search 'modems' not 'modem' -> select everything in the list and ACCEPT.

My device was then listed in the directory /dev/ all I had to do then was select it from kmobiletools.

There ye go.
