Got a quick question. After using my exterior serial modem, which works beautifully in ubuntu, I hang up; then if I want to reconnect, it's no dice. It just doesn't do anything. So I turn off the modem and turn it back on, and then it's business as usual. No problems.

Is that because the modem needs a reset command? If so, after I find out what it is, how do I put it in KPPP? In the modem commands section?

The modem is an office Depot external serial modem; not sure what the chipset is, although, I swear it sounds like a rockwell. But if it needs to be known, I'll find out for sure.

sometimes wvdial handles the modem somewhat better than KPPP. The reset command should already be there as one of the AT standard commands. The modem may not be totally resetting itself when it's told to as well.
