Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Document fed scanners

Looking for recommendations for document fed scanners. While my end goal is scanning bills, bank records, etc. to searchable pdfs I will consider the software after I have some hardware candidates. Worse case scenario, I will use a VM to scan to pdf.

Requirements:
---------------
600 x 600 dpi
color
duplex
10+ ppm

I have used the Fujitsu models on Windows and they are pretty good. However, I heard they don't support Linux.

Does anyone have any info or recommendations?

Thanks,
WT

Here is a list of supported Fujitus scanners. -->http://www.sane-project.org/sane-mfgs.html#Z-FUJITSU

This site maintains a list of supported scanners for linux, and tells you by model what works and what doesn't. From personal experience, new models are slow to be supported. It all depends on the manufacturer, and how long it takes someone in the community to develop a working driver.

I'm still running my HP G4010 on V-box, with a XP guest. That works well enough for the scanning I do.

I'm used to scanners being TWAIN compatible. What are your thoughts on scanners that don't support TWAIN / ISIS?

Thanks,
WT

I'm no expert when it comes to standards. However, having a scanner that was TWAIN compliant is a good idea.
