You can use any capture device that works in Linux. Most PCI video capture cards and a few dozen USB eye ball cameras (aka web cams). Check the HCL in this forum what web cams or PCI capture cards work in Linux. Though I go for a PCI capture card because the H.263 codec will compress a lot better and it gives a much better picture to the other user.
You will need to find a video conferencing plug-in for your instant messaging programs.
