Do webcams work in linux?


If so, how do I set it up using yahoo/gaim?

So far, Yahoo and such don't support webcams under Linux. Sorry.

You'll need to do some research about your particular device in order to find out. Or at least mention here what model you're talking about.

You can use any capture device that works in Linux. Most PCI video capture cards and a few dozen USB eye ball cameras (aka web cams). Check the HCL in this forum what web cams or PCI capture cards work in Linux. Though I go for a PCI capture card because the H.263 codec will compress a lot better and it gives a much better picture to the other user.

You will need to find a video conferencing plug-in for your instant messaging programs.
