Angry Display Problem on Compaq 1200AP LCD Using X4.3.0

I am running Mandrake 9.2 on My Compaq Presario Laptop

Celeron 800Mhz, 128m, 10gig HDD, 24x cd-rom, 13.5 inch LCD, Synaptic Touchpad + Scroll wheel.

I get a black strip down the left hand side of the LCD when in X mode only.
Under console its fine but in X it appears as though the screen has been shoved to the right by about 3 millmetres.

can Any One help Me
