display garbled (not corrupted) in linux console sessions
I'm running Debian 2.6.10, MEPIS distro on a Dell Inspiron 4150. I run Xinerama with two monitors (the LCD at 1024x768, and a big CRT on 1400X1050). Things work fine. I've got fluxbox's new xinerama support set up. Everything is dandy. Except... when I switch out of my X session into one of the consoles (read: any of the consoles) I get this garbled visual output.
Imagine the screen is divided into two halves, left and right. Each half is again divided into vertical bars, each two characters in width. Then, imagine we recombine these vertical bars, rebuilding the screen from the left (garbling, rather). We take the first one from the left half and follow it with the first one from the right half, the second one from the first half, second one from the right half, and so forth until the width of the original screen is exhausted and we have built a new, garbled version of the original screen.
I can deal with it if I know exactly what I'm typing, but it's sure a pain in the ass. I have no idea how to describe it and therefore can't find any information on the web, so I thought I would write a thread to try to address the problem.
Any ideas?
