disabling side buttons on wireless mouse

i am a newbie working with fedora core 3

i just bought a new wireless keyboard and mouse combo.
the mouse has the standard left and right buttons as well as a scroll wheel that acts as another button. the problem is that there are two additional buttons near the base of the mouse on the left and right side. the placement of these buttons causes me aggravation when playing games because i cant help but hit them and perform unwanted actions.

the button on the right near the base seams to mimic the right mouse button

i would appreciate e if anyone could help me with this problem.

the mouse is made by micro innovations and performs properly under all other cases.

I would open it up and cut the wires.

Just kidding.

Use xev to see if the button events are the same.

If it's the same I don't think there is nothing to do except maybe glue them in place.
