Disable Audio on Fedora 4?
Hi,
I am having problems installing Fedora 4 on a machine without sound. So it has no built in sound nor does it have a sound card. When I fire up KNOME I get the following error: Error No volume control elements and/or devices found. The question here is how to I disable sound so this does not come up. The point here is I do not want to have sound and want to ignore it but I cannot see how this can be done. I tried a minimal install with just KNOME and nothing else and it still came up. Even a minimum of KDE only came up with a similar sound area. So I figure it is some service or setting to change. Thanks, Ward. |
You need to disable the gnome volume control from your sessions. Go to System -> Preferences -> Sessions and remove the volume control from the session and save. My directions may not be totally accurate because I am not using GNOME right now.
