Digital Camers does not work

Hi, I am new to linux so I know next to nother about configureing hardware, I have mandrake 9.1 and a fuji finepix 2600 digital camera. It knows somthing is there because I have a camera folder in /mnt that is empty. How do I get it to regognize my camera?

I have a mount icon on my desktop that says sda1 not mounted and it cannot be mounted. I get a error message.

From what have read I think I need to have support for scsi drives, but I don't have a clue on how to do it.

Thanks,
Greg

1. See https://www.redhat.com/archives/redh.../msg02240.html . As per the article, in a console window, try
mount -t vfat /dev/sda1 /mnt/camera (or whatever is in mnt)
If you are having a problem, try using a different USB port on your computer. Take a look at your /var/log/messages file, or the output of 'dmesg | more' using your TAB key, in a console terminal, and look for any references for USB storage device. Do you have any other SCSI devices on your system? What is the exact error message you get when trying to 'mount' sda1?

2. http://media-server.amazon.com/media...L000012166.pdf see page 3, if you buy a 'usb card reader', you can take the SMC memory card out of the camera and then put it into the 'usb card reader', and presto, you got your pictures.

Hopefully, you might find this useful in configuring your camera:

have you tried Kwikdisk?
I used it in mandy 9.1 to setup my pny card reader and it works great.

Did you try accessing it with your camara plugged in and turned on?

Yes it was pluged in and turned on.

I had a icon on my desktop that apeared when I booted it up with it plugged in that said sda1 not mounted. I did was able to mount it, but it took a long time and I still could not find any files on the camera.

I am not sure if I have USB mass storage support. I don't know how to install in either, but I will look into that tomorrow when I have more time.
