digital audio player won't mount
I'm a bit of a newbie that's at his wit's end.
I just got a Cowon iAudio U2 digital audio player last week, and at first things seemed to work just fine. I connected the player through the USB, and was able to accesse the files on the drive. I uploaded about 500MB of music files to the drive. Then something stopped it but I didn't have time to troubleshoot because I had to leave for the weekend. When I got back, I plugged the player in again tried to figure out how to mount it, got it mounted, was able to list the contents (Konqueror would crash when I tried to look at the folder contents so I only was able to list the contents through the command line). I could not, however, copy anything to the device because of some I/O error. After more fiddeling, things only got worse. Now I am not able even to mount the device and see the contents.
Here's what I get when I dmesg after I've tried to mount:
usb 3-5: new high speed USB device using address 4

Now before you say that the device is kaput, I *am* able to get the device working on my fiancee's laptop running Win2K. Strangely, I *cannot* connect to the device when I'm on my machine on the Win2K side (I have a duel boot).
Thinking that maybe there was some error on the device that needed to be repaired before I could get it working on linux, I reformatted the device in FAT32 format (from my fiancee's machine). That didn't work. And yes I do have the modules loaded. I know this, because I can access my FAT32 formatted harddrive on which my machine's Windows installation resides.
Help!!!!
Thank you very much.
