Different distros & SATA drive detection
I am fairly new to linux and I had a quick question about SATA detection and different distros of linux. I'm planning to install linux onto a SATA drive using the onboard SATA controlled by the Intel ICH8 chip. But I have been reading all the different problems on this forum with detecting SATA hard drives and found that it can depend on which distro you use. But I also read the main thing is that the kernel has to support the SATA controller.
So my question is, say I was choosing between a handful of distros, if they are all running the same kernel that supports my SATA controller, does that mean no matter what distro I choose, when I attempt to install it onto my SATA hard drive, that drive will be detected?
