device reported invalid CHS sector

Hi, my log started to report device report
Quote:
status: { DRDY }
failed command: READ FPDMA QUEUED
device reported
invalid CHS sector
Got some interesting result on the net, upon investigation I disable all virtualisation stuff on my bios but still device reported invalid CHS sector was there.

I dig in deeper and found that on the page http://ark.intel.com/search/advanced...i3%20Processor that my processor Intel® Core™ i3-540 Processor (4M Cache, 3.06 GHz) had no support for Intel® Virtualization Technology for Directed I/O (VT-d)[since it is empty I'm assuming] .

Even though I disabled it , I am getting these errors , my hard disk is connected on the Marvell® SATA 6Gb/s controller: using ahci driver.

I'm assuming a bug or my bios is broken

This error has absolutely nothing to do with virtualization of any kind, and it's very unlikely to be BIOS related. It could be a kernel bug, a SATA chipset or cable malfuntion, or a bad drive.

What distribution are you running, and what kernel version? What does smartctl -a have to say about your drive? Apart from these errors in the log, are you experiencing any other problems like instability, system hangs or poor disk performance?
