device file for scanner with libusb

I got a epson perfection 660 and it works fine under mandrake 10.0 .
The only problem is that i have to upload the firmware every time the scanner has been unplugged.
When i use windows and then reboot to linux the scanner works fine because the firmware has been loaded in windows.

I used to upload the firmware in linux with a script called agfafirm but you need an ordinary device file and there doesn't seem to be one. The scanner works fine with libusb:002:002 in sane.
Is there a devicefile created by libusb or can i create one myself?

THX
