/dev/sr0 doesn't exist - mounting problems

Hi,

I have zenwalk 4.6 (2.6.21.3) with recently upgraded packages (from current). I noticed some problems with mounting dvd (ide) which is a very strange for me. According to fstab "/dev/sr0" exists as a "/mnt/dvd" but in "/dev" folder I haven't "sr0" ! I try to make "sr0" with mknod but after trying mounting I have information "sr0 isn't a valid block device" !

If it's an IDE device, shouldn't it be "hd*", rather than "sr*"?

Try removing the sr0 you made and using MAKEDEV scd-all to create the sr and scd devices on my system the sr0 is a link to scd0 as are all the other sr? links to their scd? counterparts.

Code:
>$ ll /dev/sr?
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 4 2006-08-10 20:17 /dev/sr0 -> scd0
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 4 2006-08-10 20:17 /dev/sr1 -> scd1
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 4 2006-08-10 20:17 /dev/sr2 -> scd2
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 4 2006-08-10 20:17 /dev/sr3 -> scd3
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 4 2006-08-10 20:17 /dev/sr4 -> scd4
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 4 2006-08-10 20:17 /dev/sr5 -> scd5
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 4 2006-08-10 20:17 /dev/sr6 -> scd6
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 4 2006-08-10 20:17 /dev/sr7 -> scd7
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 4 2006-08-10 20:17 /dev/sr8 -> scd8
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 4 2006-08-10 20:17 /dev/sr9 -> scd9

>$ ll /dev/scd?
brw-rw---- 1 root cdrom 11, 0 2005-08-13 21:30 /dev/scd0
brw-rw---- 1 root cdrom 11, 1 2005-08-13 21:30 /dev/scd1
brw-rw---- 1 root cdrom 11, 2 2005-08-13 21:30 /dev/scd2
brw-rw---- 1 root cdrom 11, 3 2005-08-13 21:30 /dev/scd3
brw-rw---- 1 root cdrom 11, 4 2005-08-13 21:30 /dev/scd4
brw-rw---- 1 root cdrom 11, 5 2005-08-13 21:30 /dev/scd5
brw-rw---- 1 root cdrom 11, 6 2005-08-13 21:30 /dev/scd6
brw-rw---- 1 root cdrom 11, 7 2005-08-13 21:30 /dev/scd7
brw-rw---- 1 root cdrom 11, 8 2005-08-13 21:30 /dev/scd8
brw-rw---- 1 root cdrom 11, 9 2005-08-13 21:30 /dev/scd9
Or you might just have to mknod the /dev/scd0 then link the sr0 to it.

Depends on the newer kernels my IDE Burner went from an IDE device to a SCSI I believe that the IDE hard drives/cdroms are supposed to be getting detected as sd? now when using the libata.
