"/dev/dsp: Device or resource busy"
Hi, i'm trying to set up my AWE64 ISA without sucess. I've already configured the isapnp.conf and modules.conf [got the instructions from some tutorials] properly but the soundcard still doesn't work.
I run Slackware 9.1 with the 2.6.2 kernel and OSS. All the modules load correctly [sound, soundcore, sb, sb_lib, uart401 and awe_wave]. If i do a "cat /proc/device", the sound interface appears as it shows up right at boot time. But when i try to run some audio file, i get "/dev/dsp: Device or resource busy" ... Please, help me! :) * Sorry about making you read the 1.512.659 question about this card, i searched for something that can help me before posting but couldn't find anything useful. |
hmm, are you running kde? sometimes kde's sound effects can tie up the soundard resources from other programs...
|
Yes, i'm running KDE but i get no sound at all even when i'm not running X ...

well, i didn't have much luck with isa cards either :)

It sounds like an IRQ conflict...
I haven't used ISA in ages, but I remember that it was difficult sometimes. Check the Linux Documentation Project about this one. www.tdlp.org --Shade |
