detecting NIC, USB stick and Sound card

just enrolled in a linux course for september and installed FC2 on my PC, which is connected to a router. I also have a XP desktop connected to the router. XP machine has internet access. Linux cannot detect NIC, USB stick or Sound card. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Check your kernel configuration and make sure you have the right drivers built in for your NIC, for USB support, for sound support (and the driver for your sound card).

Type lspci to find out what hardware you have.

Maybe try running a search in Google for your model computer with the term "installing linux on" at the beginning to see how others did it...

Hope this helps,
Mr. Snorfles
