destroy monitor?

Is it possible to destroy your monitor when you give wrong values in xorg.conf. I dont know my HorizSync and my VertRefresh so I have to guess it. I don't know if this could be dangerous...

It could be dangerous, but newer monitors should be safe and smart enough to do not burn out . Try some low, conservative value for your monitor. Indeed, you could always search google after your monitor especifications to be on the safe side. Google is your friend for things like this
