Dell wireless 1390 and conexant hda D11

I was boosting to my sister-in-law how great Linux was... but we ran into two problems. Modem and wireless Lan.

She still uses dialup (no high speed in her area). The modem in her computer is a conexant hda D110 MDC modem. The only drivers I could find is the linuxant.com problem is it needs a 16k kernel. Which means I can't use ndiswrapper for the wireless network card. Or at least the native fc6 one.

So is there a way to get the modem working in the stock FC6 kernel? Is there some drivers I can get.

I want to avoid using two kernels one for Wireless and one for Modem. My sister-in-law is very hard to work with and is easily upset if things don't work at the snap of her fingers.

So I need to make it as easy and seamless as possible.

I cant help you out on the modem thing, but the wireless does work with ndiswrapper.
The Dell 1390 is nothing more than a re-branded Broadcom 4311. There seem to be different revisions to the card, therefore slightly different drivers. The best place to get the drivers is the manufacturer of the PC, either the install media or the drivers download page. Also, follow this how-to and you should get wifi werking: http://www.sabayonlinux.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2966

PS: Im not sure what you mean by a 16k kernel. I have never used linuxant.com.

This card should be supported by the in-kernel BCM43xx driver, as long as you have the firmware installed. That means you no longer have to run Windows code as root and you can set your kernel up as you like.
