Dell Poweredge 2950 PERC 6i Firmware Update
Hi,
I'm currently in the process of configuring a new 2950 with Debian Lenny as a new webserver. Having installed it all I started probing the RAID hardware to ensure everything was ok. Here's what 'omreport storage controller' output: Controller PERC 6/i Integrated (Embedded) Controllers ID : 0 Status : Non-Critical Name : PERC 6/i Integrated Slot ID : Embedded State : Degraded Firmware Version : 6.0.2-0002 Minimum Required Firmware Version : 6.1.1-0034 Driver Version : 00.00.03.20-rc1 Minimum Required Driver Version : Not Applicable Number of Connectors : 2 Rebuild Rate : 30% BGI Rate : 30% Check Consistency Rate : 30% Reconstruct Rate : 30% Alarm State : Not Applicable Cluster Mode : Not Applicable SCSI Initiator ID : Not Applicable Cache Memory Size : 256 MB Patrol Read Mode : Auto Patrol Read State : Stopped Patrol Read Rate : 30% Patrol Read Iterations : 32 Abort check consistency on error : Not Applicable Allow Revertible Hot Spare and Replace Member : Not Applicable Auto replace member on predictive failure : Not Applicable Load balance : Not Applicable The RAID1 array is being flagged as degraded even though both SAS disks are active and online. Looking at the top lines in particular I think I need to update the controller firmware, but how can this be done within Debian without having to reconfigure it all? All I can find on the Dell support pages are windows and redhat based updaters. Any help would be appreciated. |

Just checked the dell support page again and realised it was actually a .BIN file so I just downloaded that and ran it. Everything seems to have worked fine and omreport now reports the controller state as ready.

I know it's a old thread. I have same issue and I need to update the firmware on ubuntu box. I downloaded and run the file and getting error messages. Did you get any error message?
