I'm having a bit of trouble with getting my burner to work under linux. Sure, windows detected it just fine. But I'm not on windows anymore. And I've never had to setup a burner in the first place.
I downloaded and compiled K3b burner software. I have an iso I want to burn. But it doesn't seem like K3b can find my burner.
Now, I can boot off of the burner drive just fine; so the bios see's it. But it looks like linux does not.
The burner is just a module for my latitude c800.
I don't see it under the "devices tree" in konqueror. I can see the 2 partitions I have on my hard drive, and the built in CD drive. But not this dude.
I would imagine it SHOULD be HDC (actually, in the install, that's the drive it was reading from)
Mind you, this is slackware I'm running. I figure that's an important aspect. Along with it being 10.1
So, the burner needs to burn. The drive isn't even showing up in linux, so.... what do I need to do to get this guy to burn? (aside from gasoline and a pack of matches, naturally.)
A CD drive will not appear unless a data CD (not an audio CD) is present, and you have mounted the drive to a mount point. Is that the case? Similarly, can you provide more detail about the commands you are running - are you doing a directory listing, or are you actively trying to burn a CD? If it's the latter, what commands are you running? -- J.W.
