default browser.

With Mandrake 91, I use Galeon to surf and like it but anytime I click on a url via a web page it comes up with monzilla profile windows.
can I set it up to just pop open galeon ?

I think that is set in your preferences of you window manager. You did not say which one you are using.

In KDE it is found in the KDE control centre under file associations.

same under gnome... (well mime-types association)

Grayhane 03-30-2003 12:05 AM

So far I am having no luck, my problem is that when using Gnome, any urls in my evolution try to open a profile for Monzilla, what I want is simply to go to Galeon instead.

jpbarto 03-30-2003 12:35 AM

wouldn't be a setting in evolution would it?

try changing the /home/[user]/.gnome/Gnome file.
add or change the entry for this:

default-show=/usr/bin/galeon "%s"

this worked for me.

Im having the EXACT SAME problem. Very frustrating. Cant seem to be able to correct this :(

MasterC 06-17-2003 02:18 AM

I'm more confused on why this is in Hardware than anything else ;)

From my experience I've found this to be an application specific issue. If your application can open different browsers (check your app prefs) then you should specify Galeon. However, if it's a generic Gnome/KDE application, then the mime-association should be working (assuming that Galeon is at the top of the list).

Cool

Im in gnome and its listed as the default browser. Just like with user MasterC, I click on a line in link in evolution and mozilla opens. Maybe it something in evolution? I cant see any setting why this would be so.
