Debian/SPARC USB keyboard - output to screen not ttya?

Hi,

I have recently aquired an Ultra 5 workstation and have used a serial line to install Debian 3.1 which works fine. As I couldn't get hold of a sparc keyboard / mouse I connected a USB card and plugged in a USB keyboard and mouse. Because the prom doesn't know about USB, it decides there's no keyboard attached and directs all output to the serial port.

When I used FreeBSD on this machine, once FBSD was up, it started to use the attached monitor and USB keyboard, however debian doesn't. Is there any way I can force it to output to the vga monitor and get it to use my usb keyboard?

Thanks
