I'm running Debian 3.1 Sarge. After first installing I couldn't increase my screen resolution beyond 800x600. But I fixed that by adding 1024x768 to the "Screen" section of XF86Config-4.
However, I am still not happy about the refresh rate and I can find no way of fixing it. In KDE, in the Configure Desktop assistant, it says that my refresh rate is 85Hz. But I can tell it's much lower by the flicker on my screen. No other screen refresh rates are listed.
My video card is on-board on a K7S41GX motherboard from ASRock. My monitor is a CTX VL700.
Below is a part of my XF86Config-4 file. I added the first line in "Monitor" but this made no difference.
Now I'm getting a refresh rate of 86. The screen does look a little bit more stable. Can you tell me how you generated this line? Was it using the gtf command? If so, what parameters did you use?
Thanks for you help. This is the first sign of progress I've had!
