debian - nvidia very low fps

Hello,

i just reinstalled a debian sarge with a kernel 2.6.11 (i tried the 2.6.8-2 just before),
i have downloaded the latest nvidia drivers for my geforce 4,

i have installed them and updated the XFree config file with the famous "nvidia" line ;)

in the past it was used to work perfectly and now the fps said by "glxgears" is incredibly low compared to past installations with 2.6.8-2i386 and the same computer (graphic ard too of course) ...

i have only a score of 900 with glxgears with nothing using the cpu....

can u advise me plz ?

(i made a network install)

The 2.6.8 series of kernels will be the best choice for you, since the number of commercial drivers working with the latest release has dropped at a horrible rate since 2.6.8.1, that's why i'm still using this kernel.
Try downgrading to 2.6.8.1 and se what happens.

Cheers for the advices man :)

this is the same with kernel 2.6.8-2 (i cant find the 2.6.8-1 sources on debian mirrors) and i tested too with old drivers (march 2005) and this is still the same...

i will continue to test with older drivers ;)

thank you very much for your help
