debian getting Microsoft Sidewinder Precision 2 Joystick to work

Hi,
how do I get debian to detect my Microsoft Sidewinder Precision 2 Joystick? I use KDE 3.5 and would like to use it for flight gear (and other games). How do I test whether it is detected?
Also, it was not plugged in during the debian installation.
thanks,
sunpascal

if its a usb joystick, try to take its number by typing:
Code:

lsusb
this should give you two numbers, one is the company's id, the other is the product. if you look them up on google you should find how to do it.
