Debian and ATI problems...

I recently switched from Xubuntu, in which I managed to successfully install the latest ATI drivers, to Debian, where, on following the same process, I met with little success.

I download the relevant .run file and chmod +x it, and then bash it, which runs the driver setup perfectly.

Upon restarting, my resolution is fine, but due to the fact I use HDMI, overscanning is wrong. So I go to run AMDCCCLE as I did in Xubuntu to alter this in the DVI settings, only to find that this is not available. This happened on an incomplete driver install within Xubuntu, too, so I'm wondering if there's something I'm doing wrong.

Further to this, window movements are jerky, and I don't just mean as if I've got compositing switched on, I mean that screen tearing is horrendous and they take ages to redraw in a new location. Colours are horribly graded, too.

A little help, please?

:)
