DDR RAM compatibility?
 

I have a ECS K7S5A mainboard with a PC266 512MB DDR-RAM on it.

Now I added a PC-3200/400 512MB DDR-RAM in the second slot.
The board supports DDR RAM up to 1 GB in two banks.

But now I get massive memory errors in all possible test.
Is the RAM damaged or is it just not working because these things are not compatible?
I don't know the world of the RAMs that well...
Can anybody help?

The best way to find out if the DDR RAM module is in itself supported by your mainboard is to consult the manual that came with your mainboard.. or look up the manual on the manufacturer's website.
Perhaps your board doesn't like two different kinds of DDR RAM in it's slots?
Usually you make pairs if you go up to higher amounts, e.g. same bus speed and voltage for instance.

It says
Two 184-pin DDR SDRAM (DDR200, DDR266)
in the spect.
On an other page it says that it supports
2 x 184-pin DDR DRAM PC1600/PC2100

Is this the same? I don't understand!

You said you added a PC-3200/400 512MB DDR-RAM module, and the manual states that the mainboard supports PC-1600/200 to PC-2100/266. (the 200 and 266 are bus speeds) I guess that means your mainboard doesn't like the new module, because it's specs are too high. although I kinda expected that the module would switch back to a lower speed.. any guarantee to take it back and have it replaced by a module that is supported by your mainboard? like for example a PC-2100/266 512MB DDR-RAM module?
